Blue Tongue Toastmasters meeting held 13th Jan (first for 2010) & Draft agenda for the meeting Wednesday 27th Jan. 2010

January 25th, 2010

Dear Blue Tongue members, intending members and guests,

The meeting # 133 was our first meeting for 2010 and held on Wednesday 13th of January. Elke (with some help from Dale) took on the role of the timer and Mark chaired the meeting.

Our third time visitor Lincoln provided us with the word of the day “Anomaly” (being a ‘deviation or departure from the norm.’) and Lincoln encouraged all members to use it in through the meeting.

Dale hosted the Table Topics session The questions that Dale asked challenged us all to think on our feet. Mark evaluated each table topics participant and provided constructive feedback.

After the break, Lincoln (3rd time visitor) welcomed our other guest, Rohit (a work colleague of Dale’s).

Te (one of our newest members) toasted the New Year (2010) and the changes that this time of recovery will bring us all. This was Te first prepared assignment and was delivered with confidence.

Mark took on the role of the ToastMaster and introduced Marcus/Mark’s 4th speech assignment. This was centred around Technology and Change,. The speech explored the rapid rate of technology and pervasive connectivity. Elke provided the evaluation for Jason’s Speech.
The second presentation was by Mark and was a prepared educational speech (from the Better Club series) titled “Evaluate to Motive”. This was opportune with our Evaluation contest to be held on 10th February.

Our newest member Te tested our listening skills with a range of questions.

Lincoln then presented My Word Report and also gave us feedback on our useage of filler words such as Ahs and Ums.

Elke presented the timer’s report to provide feedback on how we tracked aginst scheduled assignment timing.

Our visitor Rohit commented on his impression of the meeting.

Jorgen complied a comprehensive General Evaluation report to provide feedback on all the areas of the meeting which had not already been evaluated.

The evening concluded, at 7:29, with Mark discussing dated for the Evaluation and International speech competitions (Evaluation on 10th February and International Speech on 24th February),
