Dear Blue Tongue members, intending members and guests,
The meeting # 132 was our last meeting for the year 2009. It was held on Wednesday 9th of December. Truc took on the role of the timer and Mark chaired the meeting. We were presented with optional headgear (antlers & Santa hats) to help us get into the festive spirit (we didn’t need much encouragment).
Our second time visitor Lincoln provided us with the word of the day “CHARISMA”. And encouraged all members to include it in our speeches throughout the evening. Lincoln also delivered the “quote” of the evening by wishing everyone a “Merry Charismas”.
Mark Ransom continued on with a Christmas theme for Table Topics. During the session, Mark presented a variety of Christmas related questions to each member. The topics ranged
from asking about people’s “favourite reindeer” to finding alternative form of Christmas greetings. The highlight of the session was Ying thrilling us all with her rendition of”Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer”.
Tara and Elke concluded the Table Topics session by evaluating each participant and providing each speaker with some thoughtful comments.
After the break, Sirisha welcomed our 2 guests, John and Lincoln (2nd time visitor).
Geoff Greenwood toasted the West Indies Cricket team. Geoff recognised that after a poor showing in the first TEST, the West Indies showed great courage in the second Test and nearly pulled off a stunning victory.
Ying took on the role of the Toast Master in introducing Jason’s 4th speech assignment titled: “Variety comes in cans, tins and bottles”. Jason’s speech was about the contribution to the food industry made by the psycho-physicist Howard Morzarwiz, in particular to helping
Campbells to introduce 36 varieties of spaghetti sauces into our super markets in the late 80s. Marcus provided the evaluation for Jason’s Speech.
Our newest member Te tested our listening skills with a host of questions from Jason ’s speech. And this was then followed by Truc providing us with the timer’s report. Lincoln then presented My Word Report.
The evening concluded with Elke delivering a general evaluation of the evenings proceedings at 7:30pm.
I want to take this opportunity to Welcome our newest members, Te and Truc. Congratulations to both for talking on assignments in their first meeting as a fully paid member.
To all members and intending members, on behalf of the Blue Tongue Toastmaster’s organisation, we hope you, and your families, had a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year and wish you all the best in 2010.
