Dear Blue Tongue members, intending members and guests, Meeting #131 was the held on Wednesday 25th November. Truc took on the role of timer and Dale chaired the meeting.
Mark (R)  presented his Word of the Day – ‘Ability’. We were encouraged to use this word through the evening to demonstrate our ‘capabilities’.
 
Jason took on the Table Topics master’s role and presented the members and guests with a range of Festive themed questions. There were a number of challenges for all of us. Elke evaluated our performances in her usual objective manner.
 
The second half of the evening started with a toast by Dale. Dale was presenting 2 Appreciation Awards to Elke (Club President 2008/9) and Mark (Club VP Education/Treasurer 2008/9) for their efforts in guiding our club to achieve Distinguished Club status during the previous Toastmasters year (the first time tour club had achieved this recognition). Mark used this as an opportunity to present his speech from an Advanced Manual ‘Accepting an Award’.
 
Jason welcomed our visitors Te and Lincoln and encouraged them to tell a little of why they had both come to visit our club. 
Our toastmaster for the evening, Tara, introduced our two additional speakers in the prepared speeches part of the evening: Geoff and Elke.
Geoff delivered his 5th speech from the Competent Communicator manual – the speech was a practice for a technical presentation he was to deliver at work. It was on IT technology and Windows 7. Well done to Geoff for reaching the half-way point in the Competent Communicator program. Geoff’s speech was evaluated by Mark.
Elke delivered her second speech from her 2nd Competent Communicator manual. The speech was about Elke’s new passion about Kayaking on Sydney Harbour. This well crafted speech was reviewed by Geoff.
 
Mark’s acceptance speech, delivered earlier in the evening (refer Toast) was reviwed by Elke.
Mark provided us with the My Word report, including commentary on Grammar usage and Ums and Ahs.
The evening concluded with Truc providing the timer’s report.
